Last year marked the 50th Anniversary of block-making by Plasmor. Whilst celebrations were muted due to the severe recession affecting the Construction Industry, the Company continued its enviable programme of improvement, investment and innovation.

The Plaspave and Plaskerb concrete block paving range has been complimented with the introduction of a system of Radial Plaskerb Blocks. With a range of sizes and profiles, superior detailing is now possible without cutting on site.

Climate change is highlighting the serious risk of flooding in urban areas and has exposed the inadequacies of conventional and often old fashioned storm drainage systems. These can become overwhelmed by heavy prolonged rainfalls and subsequent rainwater run off.

TechniClay is a lightweight expanded clay aggregate manufactured by Plasmor for a variety of applications including concrete product manufacture, horticulture and civil engineering projects.

Launched in selective areas of the UK, Plasmor introduce the new lightweight, sustainable all purpose housebuilder block - AGLITE ULTIMA - a new cost effective alternative to the standard breeze block.

Plasmor have embarked upon a National Road Show of technical seminars and workshops delivering the sustainability message to Architects, Housebuilders, Local Authority Building Control and Builders Merchants.

At a time when traditional lightweight block-making aggregates are rapidly diminishing in supply, Plasmor has secured the long-term future of block making at all of its manufacturing sites across the UK. In Spring 2007, Plasmor doubled its output of the "Plasmor-unique" expanded clay with the commissioning of a second expanded clay kiln.

This years record annual investment of £2.3m keeps Plasmor products on the move. A flexible range of rigid and draw-bar vehicles from SCANIA, M.A.N. and HINO replace the discontinued FODEN lorries that have been the Plasmor workhorse for over 30 years.

The conservation of fuel and power, the reduction of Carbon Dioxide emissions, the arrest of Climate Change and the commitment to Sustainable design and construction is central to Government Housing Policy.
