Plasmor constantly strive to enhance the Company’s sustainability in a great number of ways. These include employing rail transport wherever possible thus reducing lorry movement, reducing dependency or quarried virgin aggregates, maximising the use of waste, reclaimed or recycled materials and effecting significant energy saving initiatives in both production and distribution activities. more
Introduced by the department for Communities and Local Government in December 2006, the Code for Sustainable Homes is the new standard for sustainable design and construction of new homes. It represents a step change towards sustainable building practice encouraging public and private sector developers to modernise and innovate thus minimising energy usage and reduce harmful emissions. Our environmental policy is to:-
- Comply with all relevant environmental legislation and other requirements where applicable.
- Continuously seek to improve our performance and prevent pollution in all business areas effecting the environment.
- Monitor progress and review our environmental performance on an annual basis.
- Advise and where necessary educate and train our employees in environmental issues
and the environmental effects of their activities.
- Ensure environmental awareness is a key component of our corporate strategy of
continuous capital investment in new plant and equipment to ensure use of the
best available equipment and the adoption of the latest technology and techniques
to reduce the effect of our operations on the environment.
- Have Board level focus on energy use by careful measurement at all sites and
ongoing investment in energy efficiency schemes and projects including the use
of alternative fuels.
- Operate appropriate measures at all sites to minimise the impact of air and noise
pollution, emissions from all our industrial processes and to ensure careful management
of water resources and drainage.
- Operate a policy for recycling of waste materials including re-use of crushed
concrete waste from manufacturing processes.
- Engender good relations with the neighbours of our operating sites and react
quickly to any environmental issues drawn to our attention.
- Promote the benefits of sustainable construction using traditional methods in the marketing of our products to the construction industry.
