The Role
An opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Engineering Design Draughtsperson based at the Head Office Site, Knottingley West Yorkshire.
Working for the Group Production Director this position is one of two draughting positions which form the Engineering Design capability of the company.
The ideal candidate will be able to:
- Use of 3D and 2D Autocad packages.
- Produce full detailed engineering drawings and specification for manufacture and assembly.
- Further develop conceptual designs of automated production plant equipment.
- Have an understanding of the principles of hydraulics, pneumatics, drive systems and all associated component parts.
- Design and detail steelwork – structural work, platforms, access and pipework.
- Perform structural calculations.
- Select and size drives to suit application requirements.
- Design for efficient use of manufacturing resources and materials.
- Selection and specification of material suited for purpose.
- Liaise with suppliers for component specification and availability.
- Support / advise engineering staff throughout manufacture from issued drawings.
- Communicate effectively with other members of the Engineering team.

- Salary reflective of experience £30 - £45K
- Full time, 40 hours per week.
- 22 days paid annual holiday increasing by 1 day per year up to 27 days. Plus statutory holidays.

The candidate
A degree of physical activity is intrinsic within this role. Site based work both outdoor and within production facilities will be a necessity, negotiating steps/ladders/vertical ladders and above ground open-mesh floor walkways, accessing various areas of production machinery. There is also a requirement to wear items of personal protective equipment, (PPE), for certain tasks and accessing certain working areas.
