We are delighted to see the announcement that Mike Leonard, of the Building Alliance, has been awarded a British Empire Medal (BEM) in the King’s Birthday Honours List in recognition of his outstanding service as a volunteer police officer.
Plasmor has worked closely with Mike for many years and has witnessed first-hand his dedication to the construction industry and wider community. Mike successfully led the Get Britain Building campaign in 2007 and subsequently established Building Alliance to champion and promote traditional building methods across the UK.
Alongside his commitment to the Building Alliance, Mike has worked tirelessly with the Fire Protection Association (FPA) following the Grenfell tragedy, helping to promote safer homes and improved building practices. He has also made a significant contribution to Birmingham City University (BCU), where he now serves as a Visiting Professor, focusing on housing comfort, sustainability, and how homes can adapt to the challenges of climate change.
Beyond his professional achievements, Mike’s voluntary service has been recognised through this well-deserved honour. As a Special Sergeant with West Midlands Police, he has dedicated more than 20,000 hours to supporting and protecting local communities through a wide range of important initiatives across the region.
On behalf of everyone at Plasmor, we would like to congratulate Mike on this remarkable achievement and thank him for his hard work, commitment, and leadership over the years. This recognition is thoroughly deserved.
