Plasmor & DB Cargo UK cement 40-year relationship with loco-naming

Yesterday we were honoured to host a very special locomotive naming ceremony at our Great Heck site.

With glorious blue skies overhead, DB Cargo (UK) Limited officially named Class 66 locomotive 66186 “Antony Slater” in honour of our founder, whose vision helped shape the Plasmor Group into one of the UK’s largest independent manufacturers of concrete products.

Rail has been a vital part of the Plasmor story since 1986, when sidings were first constructed to connect our Great Heck facility directly to the East Coast Main Line. For nearly four decades since, DB Cargo UK has played a key role in our supply chain – helping us move products safely, efficiently and sustainably.

Today’s ceremony celebrated not only the legacy of Antony Slater, but also the strength of our long-standing partnership. We are delighted to have recently renewed our agreement with DB Cargo UK, continuing rail operations from Great Heck to our distribution terminals at Biggleswade and Bow.

Each train removes the need for around 50 HGV movements, supporting our shared commitment to more sustainable distribution into London and the South East.

A sincere thank you to Roger Neary, Jenilaa Jeyabose MCMI, ACIM and the DB Cargo UK team for marking this moment with us, and to everyone who joined us at Great Heck today to celebrate a proud milestone for the Slater family and the wider Plasmor team.”
